Oberalp opens modern bouldering hall at WaltherPark

The Oberalp Group is setting another example for the growing climbing community by opening a new bouldering hall in the heart of Bolzano. The “Salewa Cube” at Walther Park will be an innovative, state-of-the-art facility with an area of 1,200 m² and innovative training opportunities.

Climbing is becoming increasingly popular worldwide and has also gained in importance at the sporting level since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. According to the FASI (Federazione Arrampicata Sportiva Italiana), this sport is also growing rapidly in Italy, especially among the under-35s. The new bouldering hall will meet this challenge and offer both climbing enthusiasts a first-class environment in which to develop their skills and newcomers the opportunity to get to know this discipline in a safe environment.

While the Oberalp Group continues to focus on lead climbing (with a bouldering area) at the climbing hall at the Salewa headquarters in Bolzano South, which opened in 2011, the new “Salewa Cube” at WaltherPark is designed as a pure bouldering hall with the most modern equipment. The hall is inspired by international climbing halls and thus also offers a spacious chill-out area, a yoga station, and the only kilter board (training board) in South Tyrol.
The design of the bouldering hall is based on the architectural concept of Bolzano Sud and creates a pleasant atmosphere with natural light and an open interior design. The motto “Climb Indoor - Feel Outdoor” is reflected in the entire design and makes the climbing experience even more authentic.

With this new urban bouldering hall in the heart of the city in WaltherPark, we want to further promote enthusiasm for climbing and create an inspiring environment for the climbing community. The combination of state-of-the-art equipment and unique design makes the “Salewa Cube” a new hotspot for climbers in South Tyrol.

“With its unique architecture, WaltherPark is the perfect location for the new Salewa Cube. Together with this strong partner, we are creating an outstanding offering for all future visitors to the neighborhood. We look forward to a great opening in September 2025,” says Thibault Chavanat, President of WaltherPark A.G.

Oberalp presented the “Salewa Cube” franchising concept at the beginning of the year and plans to open ten more climbing gyms with franchisees by 2027. After a successful roll-out in Italy, other European markets are also being targeted for possible expansion.
